The landscape of electronic music has transformed dramatically since we founded Adore Recordings in 1999, but our commitment to sonic exploration has remained constant. Looking back on our 25-year journey, we’re struck by how our genre-neutral approach has allowed us to evolve naturally with the changing sounds of our time.
In our early years, we were drawn to the emerging ambient and downtempo scenes that were flourishing in underground clubs and online communities. These genres spoke to our belief that electronic music could be both innovative and deeply emotional. We found artists who were using technology not just to create beats, but to craft immersive sonic landscapes that challenged listeners’ perceptions.
As the years progressed, we watched as the boundaries between electronic genres became increasingly blurred. Artists began incorporating elements from multiple styles within single tracks, creating hybrid sounds that defied easy categorization. This evolution validated our genre-neutral philosophy – we had been preparing for this moment since our inception.
Our catalog has grown to include everything from microsound experiments to expansive ambient suites, from minimal techno to experimental electronica. What unites all these releases isn’t their adherence to a particular style, but their commitment to pushing the boundaries of what electronic music can be.
Today, as we look toward the future, we’re excited by the possibilities that emerging technologies and new artistic voices will bring to our sonic exploration. The journey is far from over – in many ways, we feel like we’re just getting started.
